Had the opportunity to attend a ceremony for the eve of Israel’s Memorial Day. I then attended a presentation given by the sister of a fallen soldier. Understandably, this day is taken very seriously in a country where everyone’s sons and daughters serve in the military.
@help Is there any way to force Micro.blog to update past posts from my feed? I’ve fixed my RSS and really want my images to show up correctly. 🙏
Yes, I’m attending !

The University of Texas at Austin has finally put up my M.A. thesis on their online thesis repository: http://hdl.handle.net/2152/72487
I guess it's all a little more official now 🤷🏽♂️
This is it, boys and girls. Bernie 2020 has officially been announced, and it's going to be a wild ride. Make your donations today.
I’m finally getting around to reading Steven Pinker’s The Language Instinct—it’s been on my “to-read” for way too long. So far, I’ve found his unquestioning support of Chomsky’s UG a bit annoying and his brutal takedown of Whorfianism refreshing.
Found out today that a few acceptance/rejection letters from the PhD programs I applied to have just started going out. And now I can't think about anything else. Notification taps from my Apple Watch have become anxiety-inducing. Thanks, thegradcafe.com. 🤞🏽😟
It was really great to not have to grade papers during the holidays since the semester break in Israel comes later. But now it’s crunch time, and my eyes are getting tired. 📝😞
It’s official—our daily workout has to be Zumba in the living room. Our kids just like it too much. Plus, they have better dance moves than their parents.
As a parent of toddlers, I‘ve found that—no matter how it starts—almost every power struggle or attempt at loving correction eventually leads to the same inevitable conclusion: my quiet sigh of surrender, followed by a sad and pathetic, “whatever.”
Having one heck of a time getting Micropub to work on my static Hugo site. If this post goes through, consider it an early (and probably imperfect) success! 💻
Though it means spending Christmas without snow this year, I’m super excited about acting as tour guide for my family in the holy land. But first, I’ve got to survive a hectic evening of teaching and presenting next year’s plan to all our student mentors. Wish me luck. 😅
Me: “I lost my voice again.”
Wife: “Is it from too much yelling at your crazy fifth grade students?”
Me: “I don’t know that I would call it yelling at them. It’s more like I’m yelling with them.”
I love the feeling at the end of the day when you look back and realize that you really did help a lot of students on their language learning journey. I only wish there were more hours in the day for all the projects that I’d love to implement in order to help even more.
Having great success moving my old travel blog posts from WordPress to Jekyll. Still have a lot on the to-do list for my new site, but it’s nice to see some progress once in a while.
